I have watched with admiration Anthony W-Thompson on the news he is standing up for the catering trade and making everyone aware of the issues many catering owners/tenants are going through.
I have previously worked in catering and it is a hard trade more than a trade - it is a way of life. Oh don't get me wrong it can be so much fun and very rewarding I enjoyed much of my time running our pub/restaurant.
The fact is if we had our business now I too would be worrying that the bank would come in and ask for payment of the loan we had - that is their power to change your life.
I can understand that it is cheaper to eat and drink at home and I know that some pubs/restaurants charge too much but generally going out for a meal is good fun and very enjoyable plus no washing up!
With Valentines Day around the corner I know many of you will be going out - please remember to relax and enjoy the experience and restaurant owners look after your customers you need them to return and to recommend you.
So I wish you all a Happy Valentines and to all the wives of chefs who will be out working I wish you a pleasant evening (I know cos my hubby will be out working and I will be sat in alone again!)
